Conventions of comedy genre

Setting
The setting is usually set in highly populated areas (e.g. big cities).

Lighting

The lighting is commonly bright to connote happiness and laughter.

Characters

A common attribute within characters is sarcasm and for there to be idiotic people contrasted to “normal” people or really clever people who are socially awkward and unaware of social boundaries with “normal” people (these are stereotypes shown in the comedy genre).

Sound

Diegetic sound like the dialogue needs to be clear to make sure that it be can heard and laughed at. The non-diegetic sound can also give emphasis on many scenes.

Camerawork

The camerawork used for most comedies, is naturalistic and the characters are filmed in a way that shows that no one is better.
